"Outside the Palace of Me is a major exhibition of new work by Canadian visual artist and performer Shary Boyle. (...) Outside the Palace of Me assembles the artist’s ever-mounting anxieties about global crises, within the context of identity theatre. Reflecting on contemporary constructions of self through the language of costume, character, set design, and stage effects, Boyle explores how we see each other, and how we see ourselves."

EXHIBITION: JEWELS IN A GEM: LUZ CAMINO AT THE HISPANIC SOCIETY MUSEUM
(Hispanic Society, New York, NY. May 18–Sept 8, 2023)
Organized in conjunction with the celebration of the Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida Centennial (1923-2023), “Jewels in a Gem: Luz Camino at the Hispanic Society Museum” features the inspiring works of Spanish high jewelry designer Luz Camino, who is celebrating her 50th year in the profession.
With Sorolla, Camino shares a passion for Spain and its colorful and lively culture. Geraniums, tambourines, castanets, lanterns, and banderillas are equally present in the works of both artists.

"MAD was an early advocate of jewelry as a form of artistic expression. Its 1956 inaugural exhibition, Craftsmanship in a Changing World, gave many Americans their first exposure to metalsmiths who were challenging the norms of conventional jewelry design and creating works rooted in sculptural experimentation."

EXHIBITION: VERA PAINTS A SCARF: THE ART AND DESIGN OF VERA NEUMANN

"Telling the story of the artist behind the Vera brand, Vera Paints a Scarf offers a selection of paintings produced in Neumann’s preferred technique, Japanese sumi-e (ink painting), from which her textile designs derive. The exhibition then continues with a broad exploration of her design work through over two hundred objects from her lines for the home and women’s fashion produced between 1950 and 1980."

"Traditional and current processes employed by jewelers are displayed alongside contemporary and historical jewels and artifacts, illuminating the connections between present and past – in terms of form, technique, and materials – that link modern jewelry and its forerunners while highlighting how contemporary jewelry artists are considering adornment uniquely while deriving inspiration from the past.
